From July 2018 through December 2019, Science featured papers—a collection entitled “Tomorrow’s Earth”—that examined the state of the world, across such wide-ranging topics as biodiversity, agriculture, medicine, and artificial intelligence, among others. Notably, our goal was to feature work that didn’t just highlight the problems we face, but also presented innovative solutions to those problems. As we move forward into a future rife with numerous challenges for both society and nature, we hope that these contributions will inform and inspire unprecedented changes to how, and how well, we live with each other, and the other living organisms with which we share this unique planet.
